Georgian National judo team won 3 medals in Paris “Grand Slam” 2013 . Varlam Liparteliani (90kg) become champion of the competition, Avtandil Chrikishvili (81kg) gained silver medal and Amiran Papinashvili (60kg) bronze. In his  way to final Liparteliani beat Viktor Semenov(RUS),Shahin Gahramanov(AZE),Ludovic Gobert(FRA),Dilshod Choriev(UZB), In final, Liparteliani defeated Asley Gonzalez from Cuba by yuko.Besides the Gold medal Lilparteliani have gained 500 ranking points.

International Tournament of "Yashar Dogu" in Freestyle Wrestling was held on February 09-10 2013 in Ankara, Georgian freestyle wrestling team ended the tournament with 4 medals, Vladimer Khinchegashvili (60), Davit Marsagishvili (84) and Elizbar Odikadze (96) became champions, Giorgi Edisherashvili (55) won bronze medal.In final Khinchegashvili defeated Eniam Ochir of Mongolia, Marsagishvili beat Turkish Haki Cheylan and Elizbar Odikadze won over 3 times European Champion,world champion and twice Olimpic bronze medalist Khetag

International Tournament of "Yashar Dogu" in Freestyle Wrestling will be held on February 09-10 2013 in Ankara,Turkey.Revaz Mindorashvili, new head coach of Georgian Freestyle Wrestling team, named the staff for Ankara:Giorgi Edisherashvili (55),Vladimer Khinchegashvili (60), Konstantin Khabalashvili (66), David Marsagishvili (84), Elizbar Odikadze (96) and Geno Petriashvili (120).on 9 February In the first day of the competition champions and prize winners will be found out in 55, 66 ,84 kg and on February 10 – in 60, 74, and 96 kg.

on february 2-3 the first qualifications' phase for the Golden Grand Prix Final in Baku (11-13.10.2013) was held in Istanbul (TUR). Greco-Roman wrestling team of Georgia ended tournament with 2 medals.Revaz Nadareishvili (84kg) lost the final against Seljuk Cebi of Turkey. Kajaia took the third place. The champions of the team  will take part in the second qualifications' phase for the Golden Grand in the city of Hungary, Szombathely on February 23-24.After two those tournaments of Gold Grand Prixe Head Coach of Georgian Greco-roman Wrestling team Begi Darchia will choose those 7 sportsmen who will take part in European Championship on March 19-24 in Tbilisi.

New judo season will be open with First international tournament in Tbilisi. European Open 2013 will take place in Tbilisi Sport Palace On February 2-3. more then 20 countries will take part in this competition:Japan, France, Russia, Greece, Hungary, Ukraine, Belarus, Turkey, Great Britain, Iran, Slovenia, Israel, Bulgaria, Canada, Romania, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Lithuania, Latvia, Azerbaijan and Armenia. Last year Georgian Judokas won in 6 weight categories from 7.Lasha Shavdatuashvili was one of the winners of Tbilisi world Cup , who become Olympic Champion U66kg and is currnet rankleader of the IJF World Ranking. but Georgian Olimpic Champion with Avtandil Chrikishvilin and Varlam Liparteliani will open  the season  at Paris Grand Slam on February 9-10.At the Tbilisi international tournament, Georgian Wrestling Federation plans to see off Olympic and world champion Irakli Tsirekidze from active sport.

Freestyle Wrestlers started preparation for European championship

Freestyle Wrestling Team of Georgian has started preparation for European Championship. Head coach of National Team Revaz Mindorashvili and members of coaching board David Poghosiani and Aleksandre Kakhniashvili  arrived to Borjomi  with 35 wrestlers and stayed at sport-complex “Olimpi”. From these 30 sportsmen will be chosen seven for European championship. Georgian National Wrestling Federation has a new President, Election which held at Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs two times World Champion, 5 times European Champion and 2 times Olympic Medalist Luka Kurtanidze was elected as a President.
There were only two candidates  Kurtanidze and Tamaz Gegeshidze. Election lasted for three hours.103 delegates made their choice. 56 of them voted for Kurtanidze, 45 ones supported for Gegeshidze.
